As Saul Bennett (1996)

David Christopher Ritchie, (15 May 1944 - 16 January 2016 [1]was an Scottish-born Australian actor, director and university lecturer. He played creepy cult leader Saul Bennett intermittently from 1995 to 1999.

David attended Natal & Leeds Universities from 1962-1976, attaining BA (1st class), BA Hons (Eng Lit, 1st class)', MA (1st class) and MPhil (cum laude) degrees. From 1976-2006 he worked as a lecturer in the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies at Macquarie University. He was also artistic director of Harlos Production[2]s and worked as a theatre director and voiceover artist.

Alongside his day job, David occasionally appeared on TV. He first appeared on Sons and Daughters in 1986, then Rafferty's Rules. He was also seen in the mini-series Elly & Jools (1990)

David first appeared in Home and Away in 1994 playing a scavenger at a rubbish tip. He was competing against Shane Parrish and Damian Roberts to find things he could resell. The following year, he made his first appearances as creepy but charismatic cult leader Saul Bennett. In total, he appeared in 37 episodes between 1995 and 1999.

After H&A[]

David began to work on more TV productions. In 1999 he appeared in 3 episodes of Wildside. From 2002-2003 he played Vincent in White Collar Blues and Ray Churchill in Out of the Blue. In 2009 he played Dr. Cornelius in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In the 2000s he had roles in East West 101, Janet King and Rake. His last TV role was as Charlie Taub in 6 episodes of Jack Irish.
